HowTo Install Canon Pixma iP1800 or iP1900 printer on Ubuntu

This tutorial describes installing printer Canon Pixma iP1800 and iP1900 series in Linux Ubuntu Karmic Koala (9.10) and Lucyd Lynx (10.04)

  1. Download Canon-Pixma-iP1900-iP1800-KarmicKoala.tar.gz
  2. Unpack the archive:
    tar -zxvf Canon-Pixma-iP1900-iP1800-KarmicKoala.tar.gz
  3. Change curent directory:
    cd Canon-Pixma-iP1900-iP1800-KarmicKoala
  4. Install package cnijfilter-common_3.00-1_i386.deb:
    sudo dpkg -i cnijfilter-common_3.00-1_i386.deb
  5. Install package cnijfilter-ip1900series_3.00-1_i386.deb:
    sudo dpkg -i cnijfilter-ip1900series_3.00-1_i386.deb
  6. Connect printer to computer.
  7. Go to System -> Administration -> Printing -> Add
  8. The system will display a message “Missing printer driver”. Then specify the path to our PPD file namely /usr/share/ppd/canonip1900.ppd

  9. That’s all :-)

    I definitely did not understand need it to install manner d ‘ the drives of the printer cannon ip1800

    sudo dpkg -i cnijfilter-ip1900series_3.00-1_i386.deb
